Pro Patria, Patriot Awards Signify Unwavering Dedication to Guard and Reserve Employees
Van Buren, AR – June 9, 2016 – USA Truck, Inc. (NASDAQ:USAK), a leading capacity solutions provider headquartered in Van Buren, AR, was honored with a pair of awards from the Arkansas Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve during a presentation June 8 at the company’s corporate headquarters.
ESGR, a Department of Defense office, presented USA Truck with the Pro Patria Award, given annually by each ESGR State Committee to their most outstanding employer in their state or territory. In addition, Greg Banks, Vice President of Sales for USA Truck, received a Patriot Award for extraordinary support of an employee serving in the Guard.
Pro Patria Award recipients have demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve Employees through their leadership and practices, including adopting policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserves. It is the highest level award that may be bestowed by a state ESGR committee.
USA Truck was nominated for the Department of Defense Freedom Award for the second consecutive year and is among 139 finalists out of 2,500 nominations nationwide. The company was also Arkansas ESGR’s top 2015 Freedom Award nominee and also a 2015 semifinalist. Only 15 employers each year receive the Freedom Award, which is the highest DoD employer award.
“This is a really beautiful award,” said Randy Rogers, President and CEO of USA Truck, after receiving it on the company’s behalf from Rich Green of ESGR. “We see this as simply doing our civic duty, and it is our honor and our pleasure to do it. We thank ESGR and we look forward to giving our continued support to the men and women of our nation’s military.”
Banks was nominated for a Patriot Award by Maj. Brian Pharaoh, a member of the 108th Sustainment Brigade, Illinois Army National Guard and a Regional Sales Manager for USA Truck. In his nomination, Pharaoh said Banks is “totally committed to supporting me inside and outside of USA Truck. His empathy and understanding goes beyond reproach in his continued contribution of resourcing and cultivation of military service in the company.”
