USA Truck Announces Drivers of the Year at President’s Pillar of Safety

Miller, Mundy Earn Top Honors at Annual Celebration of Company’s Safest Professionals

VAN BUREN, AR – April 21, 2015 – USA Truck, Inc. (NASDAQ: USAK) a leading capacity solutions provider headquartered in Van Buren, AR, has named Tom Miller and Edward Mundy as the company’s Drivers of the Year for 2014. Miller and Mundy were among dozens of company drivers and independent contractors honored for their exemplary job performance during USA Truck’s President’s Pillar of Safety Celebration held April 17 at the Fort Smith (AR) Convention Center.

USA Truck presented each Driver of the Year with a grand prize. Miller received a 2016 International® LoneStar® tractor with customized emblems signifying him as USA Truck’s Company Driver of the Year. Mundy, the independent contractor winner, received an all-expenses paid destination getaway vacation for two.

“Tom and Edward represent the best of the best in our industry and illustrate what the USA Truck family is all about,” said Jeff Lester, USA Truck’s Executive Vice President, Risk Management and Safety, and host of the event. “They have a combined 33 years of service with our company, starting with us as students and working their way to the pinnacle of their profession. They are outstanding ambassadors for USA Truck and for professional drivers everywhere, and we are extremely proud to have them on our team.”

Miller was USA Truck’s Company Driver of the Month for September 2014. He lives in Tyler, TX, has been with USA Truck for 15 years and serves as a trainer. He is a member of USA Truck’s Mileage Milestone Club with more than 2.8 million safe driving miles.

“It’s like winning the Super Bowl and I was the MVP,” Miller said of being named USA Truck’s Company Driver of the Year. “Between all the phone calls and the excitement, I had very little sleep Friday night. I’m thankful for all the help I had in getting this recognition. It brings back a lot of memories. We as a company have come a long way, in terms of growth and in equipment. The old guys that I learned from, whether you trained with them or worked with them on a daily basis, you see how they took care of business. I’m hoping some of their knowledge will rub off on the modern driver.”

Mundy was USA Truck’s Independent Contractor Driver of the Month for March 2014. He lives in Webb City, MO and has been with USA Truck for almost 18 years. Mundy began his USA Truck career as a student before becoming a solo over-the-road driver and a trainer for eight years. He then joined USA Truck’s lease purchase program in 2008, transitioning to independent contractor status. Mundy is also a member of USA Truck’s Mileage Milestone Club with more than 2 million safe driving miles.

“I felt right from the beginning that USA Truck was right for me,” Mundy said. “They had good trainers, I liked the people and I liked everything about the company. It’s the perfect fit for me. I’ve been able to go through every career step that USA Truck has to offer. I’ve been happy and successful with that.”

As part of Friday’s festivities, USA Truck welcomed eight new inductees into the company’s Mileage Milestone Club, which includes drivers who log 1 million or more safe miles, as well as recognizing 18 drivers moving up in milestone levels. The program also recognized Drivers of the Month for the past year. The majority of them – Miller and Mundy included – will serve a yearlong term on USA Truck’s Driver Advocacy Board.

As a new element to the program this year, Mileage Milestone Club members received red sport coats to further distinguish them for their achievements. The sport coats are theirs to keep and to wear at future USA Truck events. “Our elite driver team members have earned a status that very few have reached and we wanted to make a strong statement,” Lester said. “These coats symbolize everything it means to be a USA Truck Mileage Milestone Club member – safety, performance, commitment, dedication and pride in your profession. We want to have a growing number of red coats filling our event every year.”
