May 15, 2013 — Throughout the Operations network at USA Truck, Jerry Seratt is known as a pro’s pro. He does all that’s asked of him and more, and only asks for one thing in return — miles.
“I love being out there and on the move,” Seratt said.
So does USA Truck, which is one of the reasons why the company named him Driver of the Month for April. Seratt is a Fayetteville resident and a member of the President’s Million Mile Club. He has not had a preventable collision since joining USA Truck in November 2001.
Driver Manager Will Fogleman said he nominated Seratt based on a combination of production, punctuality and overall professionalism. “Jerry is constantly early for pickups and deliveries, and goes the extra mile in figuring out and fixing problems. Jerry is a great role model for other USA Truck driver team members to follow.”
Seratt drove a dump truck in Northwest Arkansas for more than four years before enrolling in truck driving school and obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License. “I wanted to see the country and going over the road sounded like a good idea,” he said.
Nearly 12 years after joining USA Truck as a student driver, Seratt has no plans to leave.
“I would like to stay here until I retire,” he said. “I like that it’s a family?oriented business and that you can talk to everyone. I have a lot of faith in USA Truck. They gave me an opportunity and I let my loyalty stay here.”
USA Truck reserves its Driver of the Month honor for driver team members who consistently display their commitment to safety, DOT compliance, customer service, appropriate use of available hours and overall professionalism. Any full?time USA Truck driver team member is eligible and may be nominated by co?workers.
“Jerry’s professionalism, work ethic and loyalty set the standard for what we want in our professional drivers,” said John Simone, President and CEO of USA Truck. “I’m impressed by the pride he takes in his job and the passion he has for our industry. Jerry is proud to be part of the USA Truck family and we are equally as proud to have him.”
For his recognition as April’s Driver of the Month, Seratt will receive company safety awards points (good for validation among a vast inventory of store items), along with a certificate and companywide communication to honor his achievement.
