Van Buren, AR – May 9, 2016 – USA Truck, Inc. (NASDAQ:USAK), a leading capacity solutions provider headquartered in Van Buren, AR, hosted its annual Tech/Driver Challenge May 6, showcasing the skills of Company diesel technicians and professional driving team members from throughout the country.

Technician Jesse Elmore, who works at USA Truck’s Van Buren facility, earned Grand Champion honors for the third straight year. Robert Payne of Brookline Station, MO was the Grand Champion driver.

Elmore won four of the 10 challenge stations — Electrical, HVAC, Wheel End Inspection, and Steering and Suspension — along with submitting the highest written exam score. Runner-up Kyle Ranville (Dayton, OH) won the Transmission, DOT Compliance and Engine Diagnostics stations. Winners of the remaining stations were David Dunaway of Van Buren (Tire Maintenance), Allan Ivy Sr. of West Memphis, AR (Health and Safety) and Josh Jorgensen of Van Buren (Trailer Inspection).

In the Trailer Inspection category, Jorgensen and Anthony Milton (Van Buren) each scored 100%, with Jorgensen winning the tiebreaker based on a faster finishing time.

Elmore and Ranville will represent USA Truck at the Arkansas Trucking Championship July 14-16 in Rogers, as well as at the TMC SuperTech Nationals September 18-22 in Raleigh, NC.

In the Driver Challenge, Payne was followed by runner-up Tom Miller; Joseph Demuth (third), James Simons (fourth), Steven Cazee (fifth) and Jodie Yoder (sixth). They will comprise the driving portion of Team USA Truck at the Arkansas Trucking Championship July 14-16 in Rogers.

Miller took first in skills test, Demuth earned top score in the pre-Trip inspection and April Coolidge turned in the highest written exam score.

Each technician and driver completed a rigorous qualifying exam to earn the chance to compete for our Company championship. In addition, several USA Truck vendors and suppliers, as well as the Arkansas Highway Patrol, volunteered their time and resources to provide materials and administer the process.

“USA Truck is excited to be able to host this annual event to showcase the talents of our team members, who exceed expectations every day to make our Company an industry-leading capacity solutions provider,” said Chris Parsons, Vice President of Maintenance for USA Truck. “An incredible amount of work goes into putting on this event from many of our team members behind the scenes, led by event coordinators Jason Lansdell (Regional Maintenance Manager), Ron Rogers (Corporate Maintenance Trainer) and Tanya Rogers (Risk Awareness Manager). We thank them for their efforts and we congratulate all our participants on an excellent competition. We look forward to seeing how we stack up at the state and national events.”

Billy Cartright, Senior Vice President of Operations for USA Truck, said: “Safety is one of our Core Values and each of our highly skilled professional drivers lives it every day. They understand that safety is everyone’s responsibility and that as professionals, they set the standard. We are extremely proud of them and we welcome every opportunity for them to display their talents.”
