May 21, 2013 ? Henry Ipema placed first in four of 10 categories to earn the title of USA Truck Grand Champion at the USA Truck Technician Championship on May 17 in Van Buren, AR.
Ipema, representing USA Truck?s Chicago terminal, won the Brakes and Air System, Service Information and DOT Inspection categories (DOT with a perfect score), and placed second in the Engine category. He finished third overall in the 2012 USA Truck Technician Championship.
Ipema was followed by Jesse Elmore (Van Buren), 2012 USA Truck Grand Champion Daniel Cupp (Van Buren), Luke Landis (Vandalia, OH) and Anthony Jellison (West Memphis). These five technicians will represent USA Truck at the 2013 Arkansas Technician Championship May 31 in Rogers and at TMC SuperTech 2013 (nationals) Sept. 9?11 in Pittsburgh.

Ten USA Truck technicians were selected to compete after completing a qualifying test. This rigorous written exam tested the technicians? knowledge of the various systems, components and processes associated with our equipment and maintenance strategy.
The Championship competition consisted of 10 stations, where each technician completed a written exam and a hands?on test by diagnosing and repairing an unknown issue with the equipment on which they were being tested.
Ipema and Elmore each received prize packages of tools and assorted gifts for placing 1?2 in the competition.
